Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct sets the expectations for behavior and professionalism during the Roots Millennium Model United Nations (RMMUN) conference. It ensures that all participants engage respectfully, maintain academic integrity, and adhere to the rules of diplomatic discourse. By following these guidelines, delegates, chairs, and staff can contribute to a positive, inclusive, and productive environment, allowing for meaningful debates and collaborations.
1) Respect and Courtesy: Treat all delegates,chairs and staff with respect and courtesy. Use appropriate language and tone during debate and sessions
2) Non-Violence Policy: The MUN conference upholds a strict non-violence policy. Physical altercations, threats, intimidation, or any form of aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
3) Professionalism: Dress appropriately in formal attire during formal sessions. Mantain a professional demeanor at all times. Engage in debates and negotiations with a focus on the issues, not personal attacks.
4) Prohibited Substance Abuse: The use of drugs, alcohol, or any illegal substances during the RMMUN conference or related events is strictly prohibited. Delegates should not attend any conference activities under the influence of drugs.
5) Possession of Prohibited Substances: The possession, use, or distribution of prohibited substances, including cigarettes, vapes, alcohol, or illegal drugs, is strictly forbidden within the Roots Millennium School premises. Any violation will result in immediate disciplinary action performed by Discipline Department, including potential expulsion from the event.
6) Behavior During Social Events: Participants are expected to maintain the same level of respect, professionalism, and decorum during social events as they do during the conference sessions.
7) Active Participation: Contribute constructively to debates and discussions. Listen to other's viewpoints and be open to different perspectives. If a delegate is not present in atleast 4 committee sessions, he/she won't be eligible for any award.
8) Use of Technology: Delegates may use laptops, tablets, or other devices for research and drafting purposes, but not for unrelated activities during committee sessions. Delegates should avoid disruptive behavior such as texting, using social media, or gaming during debates. In addition to this, fliming videos or taking photographs during the committee session is not allowed.
9) Adherence to rules: Follow the rules of procedures and guidelines set by the conference. Respect the decisions of the chairs and abide their rulings.
10) Confidentiality: Mantain confidentiality on sensitive information discussed during closed door sessions. Respect the privacy and integrity of all delegates. Avoid sharing confidential details out of RMMUN setting.
11) Ethical conduct: Uphold high ethical standards in all interactions. Avoid plagiarism and ensure proper citiation of resources.
12) Punctuality: Be punctual and present for all sessions. Arrive on time for each session. Late comers will not be allowed to enter committee session.
13) Honesty: Act with honesty and integrity in all MUN activities.
14) Diplomacy: Be diplomatic, listen to others and look for a compromise. Any kind of indiscipline or undiplomatic behaviour shall not be tolerated
15) Conflict of interest: Disclose any potential conflicts of interests that may arise. Mantain impartiality and objectivity in decision-making. Uphold the integrity of the RMMUN process by avoiding conflicts of interest.
16) Responsibility for Personal Belongings: Delegates are solely responsible for their personal belongings throughout the conference, including during sessions, breaks, and social events. The RMMUN organizers are not liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged items. Delegates are encouraged to keep their valuables secure and avoid leaving personal items unattended. Any discovered lost items should be reported or handed over to the conference's designated lost and found area.
17) Reporting: Promptly report any incances of code violations or inappropriate behaviour to the organising team. This ensures a safe and respectful environment within the RMMUN simulation.
Consequences of Misconduct: Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, removal from sessions, disqualification from awards, or expulsion from the conference, depending on the severity of the offense. Dias members reserve the right to make final decisions regarding any breaches of conduct.
By participating in RMMUN conference, all delegates, chairs, and staff agree to uphold the principles of this Code of Conduct, ensuring a respectful, engaging, and productive conference for all.
